AATSP Indiana Outstanding
High School Student of Spanish

The Indiana Outstanding High School Student of Spanish Award recognizes a small group of premier students learning Spanish in a high school setting in the State of Indiana. This award is has two categories: 1) Non-native/heritage students and 2) Native/heritage students. All students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or above, have participated in events related to the Spanish language and cultures, and have received outstanding grades (A's) in Spanish during their 3 years of high school. All nominees must be seniors at the time of their application.
AATSP Indiana is especially interested in students who have been involved in at least FOUR or more of the following activities:

AATSP Indiana is especially interested in students who have been involved in at least FOUR or more of the following activities:
- A participant in a Spanish immersion program in Spain or Latin America.
- President, board member or regular member of the Spanish Club, Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, Club de Amigos, Spanish cinema club, Spanish theater group, Spanish choir, or Spanish newspaper.
- A presenter at a conference for high school students studying Spanish.
- A school representative in the AATSP National Spanish Exam.
- A school representative at the annual AATSP Indiana Spanish Contest, "El Concurso Académico".
- A participant in the AATSP Indiana "Día de Inmersión".
- A writer or an artist who has contributed a piece of artwork, article, or poem for publication in AATSP’s Albricias journal or any other important journal/newsletter for high school students.
- A volunteer in events outside of school hours where Spanish is spoken.
- A participant in Spanish service-learning projects where students in elementary or middle school were benefited.
- A Spanish tutor/mentor to students in the same school or people in the community.
Please note:
- In order for a student to be considered for this award, the nominating teacher MUST be a member of the AATSP.
- Schools may nominate up to 4 students for this award (maximum). Please submit one nomination per student (repeating the process up to 4 times, where necessary).
