AATSP Indiana Outstanding
College Student of Spanish
The Indiana Outstanding College Student of Spanish Award recognizes the best senior undergraduate students majoring or minoring in Spanish in a public or private university in the State of Indiana. There are two categories for this award: 1) Non-native/heritage students and 2) Native/heritage students. All students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or above and have received outstanding grades (A’s) in Spanish courses (language, literature, cinema, linguistics, culture, conversation etc.) during their first 3 years at the institution. All nominees must be designated as seniors during their time of application.
In addition to earning high marks in their course work, AATSP Indiana is interested in recognizing students who have been involved in at least two of the following activities:

- A volunteer in community events where Spanish is spoken.
- A participant in Spanish service-learning projects where students in elementary, middle school or high-school were benefited. Work with other institutions different from schools are also considered.
- A Spanish tutor/mentor for students in the university or people in the community.
- A participant in the AATSP Indiana "Día de Inmersión".
- A volunteer judge at the annual AATSP Indiana Spanish Contest, "El Concurso Académico".
- Participant in any cultural group where Spanish is required such as a Spanish theater group, a Spanish choir, a Spanish club, a Spanish newspaper/magazine, a Spanish cinema club or any other group that requires or involves use of Spanish.
- Participant in an overseas program in a Spanish-speaking country.
- Presenter in an undergraduate conference related to the Spanish language.
Please note:
- In order for a student to be considered for this award, the nominating teacher MUST be a member of the AATSP.
- Schools may nominate up to 4 students for this award (maximum). Please submit one nomination per student (repeating the process up to 4 times, where necessary).
