Profesor del Año

AATSP Indiana is proud to recognize prominent Indiana Spanish and/or Portuguese teachers for their outstanding dedication, professional contributions, evidence of continuing education and growth, student mentorship, and influence on Spanish/Portuguese language education in their communities and our state.

Each fall, one distinguished Indiana Spanish/Portuguese teacher is selected in each of the following four categories:

• AATSP Indiana Rising Star Teacher of the Year - presented to a teacher of any level who is within his/her first 5 years of teaching
• AATSP Indiana K-8 Teacher of the Year - 8+ years of teaching experience
• AATSP Indiana Secondary Teacher of the Year - 8+ years of teaching experience
• AATSP Indiana Post-Secondary Teacher of the Year - 8+ years of teaching experience

These four Teachers of the Year represent the AATSP Indiana in the annual IFLTA Teacher of the Year Program and will be recognized at the annual IFLTA Conference in November. In order to be eligible to compete for this top honor, candidates must have been members of IFLTA for at least 3 years (not necessarily consecutive years) and prepare a portfolio according to the requirements set by the IFLTA. Each constituent organization of the IFLTA is invited to nominate candidates (the Indiana chapters of the AATSP, AATF, AATG, AITJ; ICLASS; ICC; GLAC).

• IFLTA Rising Star Teacher of the Year
• IFLTA K-8 Teacher of the Year
• IFLTA Secondary Teacher of the Year
• IFLTA Post-Secondary Teacher of the Year
• IFLTA Teacher of the Year (one overall winner to represent IFLTA at the Central States competition)
